Renewable energy: The effects of renewable energy sources in Muğla on the environment

Abstract (EN)

In this study, a comprehensive review of renewable energy sources has been made. It has been revealed that the use of renewable resources rather than fossil resources to meet the ever-increasing energy need will yield more positive results. The types of renewable energy sources, how they are used and the potentials of these sources in Turkey have been investigated. The contributions of renewable energy sources to both the environment, living life and the country's economy have been highlighted. Within the scope of this study, TOC, COD, pH, conductivity and Pb and Zn determinations were made in the water samples coming out of the hydroelectric power plants in Muğla province, Dalaman and Fethiye districts, and their effects on the environment were examined. Before starting the study, the sampling periods of these samples were determined to be in different seasons. Water samples taken from hydroelectric power plants in 3 different periods, September 2020, January 2021 and May 2021, were analyzed. Conductivity and pH measurements were made as soon as the water was taken. TOC, COD, Pb and Zn determinations were made in the laboratory environment. These data were then plotted according to standard curves. When the results were evaluated in general, it was seen that the hydroelectric power plants examined had a minimum negative impact on the environment.
