Abstract (EN)

With developing technology and the increasing number of electrical devices used in daily life, consequently the amount of power drawn from the electricity network is constantly increasing. Power which is taken from the network, and therefore the increase in current, leads to the increase of the magnetic field levels around that power carrying cables. In urban areas, especially in city centers, underground power cable usage in power distribution lines is tremendously increasing day by day. Magnetic fields occur around power transmission lines and increasing energy demand occurs in parallel with the increasingly high magnetic fields can cause negative effects on human health. These areas also can cause deteriorating effects on sensitive electronic equipment by electromagnetic interference. For this reason, the control of the magnetic field that occurs around the underground cable lines that is used in the energy distribution network has become an important research topic. In this study, the shielding of underground power cable raceways is investigated, which is one of the referred methods to avoid the negative effects on the living and the electronic devices of magnetic fields that occurs while power transmission. The flat plate and reverse-U shape shielding screens are examined theoretically and practically on currently used cable raceways. The most suitable shielding type is investigated.
