Abstract (EN)

In this project study, in order to evaluate the environmental impact of cementitious paste backfill (CPB) material produced from sulphide rich tailings, chemical-, physical- and sulfur analyses, static modified acid base account (ABA) and kinetic humidity cell tests (HCT) in two different procedures (A and B processes at different conditions), XRD and mineralogical analyses and, mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) tests were carried out on the tailings and CPB samples (CPBs). This thesis study is the first study where the CPBs were produces in kinetic humidity cells and kinetic tests were performed to investigate the AMD potential in accordance with two different procedures (A and B). With the experimental studies, AMD formation potentials and heavy metal releases of tailings and CPBs were investigated. In this context, oxidation and metal release characteristics of the CPBs were investigated for 41 weeks. The pH values of the CPBs were at basic levels at the end of the week 41.
