The effect of local resident's perception of tourism development on quality of life and emotional solidarity: The case of Afyonkarahisar Ayazini village

The aim of this study is to determine the effects of the local residents' perceptions of tourism development on quality of life and emotional solidarity in Ayazini Village, located in the province of Afyonkarahisar. Initially, a conceptual framework was established regarding tourism development perception, quality of life, and emotional solidarity. In the implementation phase, data were collected using a questionnaire technique. The study population consisted of residents of Ayazini Village, and data were obtained from 240 individuals using the convenience sampling method. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as percentage, frequency, arithmetic mean, and standard deviation, as well as analytical techniques including factor analysis, reliability analysis, multigroup analysis, multivariate normality test, and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The findings revealed that the local community's perception of tourism development significantly affects their quality of life, with varying impacts across economic, social, and environmental dimensions. Another key finding is that the perception of tourism development influences emotional solidarity only in the social dimension. Based on the results, the study offers various policy and practice recommendations for researchers, local administrations, and non-governmental organizations.
