Abstract (EN)

Central governments work in cooperation with local authorities, which are the closest public units, to be successful in ensuring social policies. Social policies aiming to make a fair life worthy of human dignity for everybody in a society viable have a great significance for municipalities, at the head of local authorities. Social policy practices of municipalities that aim to meet the common needs of society at the local level is called social municipalism. Spending and funding for the implementation of these policy practices are assessed by the social budget as a whole. As an example of the implication of social policies at the local level, the examination of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality within the scope of the social budget constitutes the main subject of this study. Accordingly, the study tries to explain the current status and importance of need for resources towards spending and services by years concerning social municipalism in Manisa. The study aims to provide a comprehensive informing about interaction between budget of Manisa Metropolitan Municipality and the municipality's social spending for researchers in consideration of findings.
