Abstract (EN)
The study discusses Turkey's renewable energy potential, municipalities' clean energy transition strategies, the challenges they face, and the environmental, social, and economic gains they achieve. Kadirli Municipality's solar energy project and Nilüfer Municipality's sustainable energy policies, as well as important projects, demonstrate the contributions local governments make to our country in energy transformation with concrete examples. It is understood how important the steps to be taken and the right policies to be implemented in local governments are to achieve sustainability goals. The importance of transitioning to clean energy for a sustainable future is emphasized, and it is foreseen that the use of renewable energy resources in local governments supports economic independence in energy in the long term. In this context, it is recommended that renewable energy resources be supported by policies in municipalities.
