Abstract (EN)

In this study, at first sinter spinel was produced using local raw materials instead of imported sinter spinel. The density and open porosities of the produced spinels were measured. Mineralogical and phase analysis of the spinels were conducted with X-ray diffractometer (XRD) whereas microstructure of these spinels were examined with scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Secondly, sinter spinel that was produced in this study and local raw materials were used for the production of refractory bricks as an alternative to imported refractories used in the sinter zone of cement rotary kilns. Water absorption, density, porosity, cold bending strength, thermal expansion, three-point bending tests were applied to produced refractories and their corrosion behavior were examined. Parameters that affect these characteristics were investigated. SEM investigations of refractory samples were also conducted. Bending strength, elastic modulus, fracture toughness, fracture surface energy, work energy values were measured, and thermal stress/shock parameters (R and R''', R'''' , Rst) and γwof/γ ratio were calculated. Finally, it was shown that, MgO-MgAl2O4 refractory can be produced suitable for sinter zone of cement rotary kiln by using local raw materials
