The effects of organic voice disorders on quality of life in adults

In this study, it was aimed to reveal the relationship between organic voice disorders and quality of life in adults. The model of the study is a relational screening model and the correlation type was established between the variables. When the research groups were formed, it was taken into consideration that the individuals were 18 years and older. The individuals in the patient group consisted of 98 people diagnosed with organic voice disorder in Kayseri City Hospital. The control group consisted of 22 individuals with no diagnosis of voice disorder. During the study, VHI and V-RQOL were administered to both groups; maximum / a / phonation times, s / z ratios, oral diadokokinetic velocities, and MDVP analysis of individuals were examined; auditory-perceptual evaluation was performed with GRBAS. As a result, the total scores obtained from the quality of life scales of the patients with organic voice disorders and the total scores of the control group showed a significant difference. These findings emphasize that it is important to evaluate the quality of life of patients presenting to clinics with voice disorder.
