Abstract (EN)
Evaluation of the Relationship between Hedonic Hunger States of Adult Individuals and Some Blood Biochemical Parameters Research shows that eating behavior is regulated not only by homeostatic mechanisms that ensure the body's internal balance, but also by hedonic pathways that control appetite and satiety processes. As a result of the literature review, it was aimed to examine the relationship between hedonic hunger states of adult individuals and some blood biochemical parameters. The study was conducted with a total of 127 participants, 78 women (61.4%) and 49 men (39.6%), who applied to a dietician at Istanbul Eyüpsultan State Hospital between 01.12.2023 and 31.12.2023 and met the inclusion criteria. Personal characteristics of the individuals were measured with a survey form consisting of 30 questions, hedonic hunger status was measured with the Power of Food Scale consisting of 15 items and the Turkish Emotional Eating Scale consisting of 30 items. In blood parameters, fasting insulin, fasting blood sugar, HOMA-IR, LDL, HDL and triglyceride values were examined. While women's Turkish Emotional Eating Scale scores were found to be higher than men, their Power of Food Scale scores did not differ in terms of gender. It was determined that Turkish Emotional Eating Scale (p<0.01) and Power of Food Scale (p<0.001) scores were higher in those with insulin resistance than in those without insulin resistance. As Turkish Emotional Eating Scale scores increase, Power of Food Scale scores increase. (p<0.001). Eating in tense situations, eating to cope with negative emotions, self-control, total emotional eating, food availability, nutritional power, and total nutritional power scores increase as HOMA-IR scores increase. As triglyceride and BMI values increase, HOMA-IR scores increase. The correlation between emotional eating and nutritional power variables and HDL, LDL and Triglyceride was not found to be significant. In addition to all the arrangements made in the nutrition plan, examining hedonic hunger states in order to prevent emotional tendencies can open the door to a different motivation in patients. Obesity is a major public health problem. It is important to attract the attention of health professionals to ensure effective management in this struggle. The limited number of studies to date on the relationship between hedonic hunger and blood biochemical parameters increases the importance of this study. Key Words: Power of Food Scale, Emotional Eating, Hedonic Hunger, Insulin Ressitance, Lipid Profile
