ABSTRACT A/R/TOGRAPHİC RESEARCH BASED ON NEW MEDİA INTERACTİON İN THE PROCESS OF ADULT ART EDUCATİON Emel ÜLÜŞ ALICIOĞLU Department of Fine Arts Education Anadolu University, Graduate School, July 2024 Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Suzan Duygu ERİŞTİ The study titled "A/r/tographic Research Based on New Media Interaction in the Process of Adult Art Education" explores art education and new media interaction in a multidimensional manner within the context of adult education. The starting point for this research process is adult education. In this context, the educational process structured for 14 weeks includes both the preparatory and implementation phases of the learning process. It has been enriched by the participation of experts in the field of art and art education, resulting in a transferable adult art education program applicable to real life. The research is structured based on the A/r/tographic research method, which is an arts-based research method. In this process, both the participant and the researcher engage in inquiries grounded in their identities as learners, researchers, and artistic performers. The findings of the research indicate that adults receiving art education gain subjective development, aesthetic awareness, and an understanding of digital art. Additionally, the use of new media tools and social media contributes to the democratization and public dissemination of art, which are significant findings. Developing an interactive structure with different disciplines that target technological competencies in the adult education process in art education is crucial. Another finding of the research is that contemporary art, with a focus on digital media, enhances awareness of aesthetic and critical dimensions and fosters critical thinking skills. In today's digital world, incorporating new media and digital art education more extensively into adult art education processes is vital. Practical studies within the framework of the power of art and digital media in public space pedagogy are also significant among the recommendations. This research examines the reflections of art education within the context of adult education and its interaction with digital media, highlighting the importance of adult art education in finding a societal response to art.
