Examination of the decisions taken at the twenty national education council regarding equal opportunities in basic education, according to the opinions of school administrators

The aim of this research is to examine the decisions made at the Twentieth National Education Council regarding equal opportunities in basic education, according to the opinions of school administrators. In this study, a convergent parallel design, one of the mixed research methods, was used. The research population consists of 763 principals and assistant principals working in official kindergartens, primary schools, and secondary schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education in Şehitkamil District of Gaziantep Province during the academic year 2022-2023. In the quantitative dimension of the research, 293 school administrators were selected through "stratified sampling" and "convenience sampling"; In line with the opinions of the thesis advisor and two faculty members, the decisions taken at the Twentieth National Education Council regarding equality of opportunity in basic education were structured and the "Council Decisions Evaluation Survey" created by the researcher was applied. In the analysis of the survey data, percentage, frequency, and chi-square statistics were utilized. In the qualitative dimension of the research, an interview form was applied to 12 school administrators selected from the study population using the "maximum diversity sampling" method. The descriptive analysis method was employed to analyze the data obtained from the interviews. The research revealed that school administrators generally found the decisions made at the Twentieth National Education Council regarding equal opportunities in primary education to be applicable, but they encountered challenges in the implementation process of these decisions.
