Evaluation of the use of gloves by health personnel working, in intensive care unit and their adaptation to isolation measures

The research was conducted between May-June 2019, Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Training and Research Hospital and among the healthcare professionals working in the intensive care of Başkent University Ankara Hospital. The sample of the study consisted of 96 physicians, 150 nurses, 14 technicians, 7 technicians and 7 emergency medicine technicians working in intensive care units (n = 274). In the data collection, the information form, the Scale of Compliance with the Insulation Measures and the Attitude Scale for the Use of Gloves by Health Workers were used. The data obtained were evaluated in IBM SPSS v.21 package software using appropiate statistical methods in determining. In the research 63.9% are women and 36.1% are men. The average age of the participants in the study is 28.86±6.70. It was determined the average working time in intensive care was 53.03±60.99. In the research, the total score averages of the scale of compliance with isolation measures; 78.49±5.48 of physicians, 79.9±7.65 of nurses and other health personnel are 77.71±4.69. The avarage total score of health workers participating in the study on the glove use attitude scale is 47.74±4.36. Finally, when the factors affecting the compliance with the isolation measures are examined, it was determined that they affect the isolation measures among the gender, education level and professional groups.
