The relationship between meeting the requirements of family individuals with a patient intensive care and their satisfaction levels

Research has been realized through correlational survey model, in order to determine the relationship between meeting the needs of family members with a patient in intensive care and their satisfaction levels. Relatives of patients hospitalized in adult intensive care units of all hospitals in Bolu province were included in the study. The study group of the study consisted of 306 patient relatives. Data were collected by using Personal Information Form, Satisfied Needs Scale and Intensive Care Satisfaction Scale. Number, percentage, average and standard deviation, Pearson's correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis were used to evaluate the data. According to the findings of the study, it was determined that the average needs satisfaction score of the relatives was 1.89±0.28. The highest confidence requirement subscale of the satisfied needs of patient relatives was 2.55±0.54 and the lowest comfort requirement subscale was 1.60±0.37. Intensive care satisfaction score of patient relatives was determined as 47.79±10.55. It was determined that the relatives of patients in intensive care have got the score of 46.72±10.78 from the care satisfaction sub-scale related to intensive care satisfaction, 48.24±10.69from the information satisfaction sub-scale and 50.03±15.56 from decision-making satisfaction sub-scale. It was determined that the care satisfaction of patient relatives were predicted by the sub-scales of meeting the requirements of trust (R2= .512, p= .000), information (R2= .512, p= .001), and sympathy (R2= .512, p= .023), the satisfaction of information sub-scale was predicted by the sub-scales of meeting the requirements of trust (R2= .418, p= .000) and information (R2= .000, p= .036) and decision-making satisfaction sub-scale was predicted by the sub-scales of meeting the requirements of trust (R2= .296, p= .000) and information (R2= .296, p= .036). The results of the study show that meeting the needs of patients' relatives predicts the satisfaction of intensive care units.
