Effectiveness of a smoking cessation program among lowincome pgrenancy

Objective: Designating the obstacles of pregnant woman to quit smoking, via motivational meetings, our aim is to evaluate the strength of the smoke quitting program. Method: The first study was carried with the pregnant women who applied to Gynecology department during 23.11 to 15.12.2016. Content of the data analysis was used in phenomenologic study of 12 pregnant women. Data were collected via individual meeting method based on literature and via semi prepared meeting form with learned opinion. The second study, was carried with 42 pregnant women, at the family practice centers during the dates of 05.10.2018 – 30.10.2019. Within the program, 6 times face to face meeting were made in family practice centers and phone consultancy was given. Results: The obstacles of pregnant women's perceptions are collected in 2 main themes as ''individual manners and attitudes'' and ''factors among them''. In the second study, the kotinin level in urine is 1019.28±648.33 before the attempt, and 503.40±579.75 after the attempt. A significant difference on women's kotinin level has been detected (t=5.76, p=.000). Significant statistical changes of the average values of these perceptions have been detected related to cigarette consuming during pregnancy on pregnant women before and after the attempt (p≤0.05). Conclusion: Questioning the cigarette consuming during pregnancy and also professional consultancy about the obstacles of quitting cigarette, have been seen as succesful ways to smoking cessation of pregnant women, which have been held by the first step nurses.
