Abstract (EN)

Reactions of a pavement which has a layered structure against dynamic loads are uncertain. In order to detect those stresses, several values are obtained after numerous works under laboratory conditions. In recent years, the finite element method is started to be used significantly for the estimations during stress analysis.In this study, the ANSYS software is used in order to detect these stresses realized on the layers of a pavement. With the ANSYS software, a stress analysis has realized on the flexible pavement by using two different variables. The layers of the pavement analyzed according to the first variable (the variation of the elasticity module) have the values of 2100 MPa, 2500 MPa, 3000 MPa and 3500 MPa.. The layers of the pavement analyzed according to the second variable (the variation of the surfacing thickness) have the thickness of 30 mm, 50mm, 70mm and 100mm. According to the working results, it is observed that the surface having the elasticity module of 3500 MPa is exposed to high stresses. And for the surface having the elasticity module of 2100 MPa has various plastic deformations. Regarding different surfacing thicknesses, it is observed that the stress values resulting from the analysis of the surfacing layer having a thickness of 100 mm are small. But high stress values are encountered for the layer having a thickness of 30 mm. In conclusion, the stress values obtained by the analysis realized with the help of the ANSYS software can be used as guiding data during the road design.Keywords: Flexible Pavement, Stress Analysis, Finite Element Method, ANSYS
