Abstract (EN)

In this study, 25 full test-cell emission tests for 14 differenet turbofan engines from CFM56-7B and CFM56-3B series were performed between May 2013 and May 2014. Emission tests were realized during routine tests made on newly overhauled turbofan engines at Istanbul Ataturk Airport test-cell unit. CO2, CO, NOx (NO2, NO) and THC emissions from the engines were measured. As a result of these measurements, emission indices for CO, NOx and THC were determined for specific operating phases according to the methods explained in the "ANNEX 16 Vol II, Aircraft Engine Emissions". The relationship between various engine parameters and emissions were also analyzed. Calculated emissions indices were corrected for reference sea level conditions, and they were compared with the ICAO database indices. Emissions were also calculated for real flight conditions by making use of the FDR records of four flights made by Boeing 737 and 738 passenger aircraft using CFM56-7B24 and CFM56-7B26 engines Keywords: Turbofan Engines, Aircraft Engine Emissions, Emission Indices, Chemiluminescence, FDR
