Abstract (EN)

Occupational accidents constitute the most serious problem area of working life both in the world and in Turkey. This situation has brought with it some legal regulations and technical solution-oriented studies. However, the desired results could not be obtained from these regulations. Looking at the problems only as a technical issue will not be the right step to reach a solution. The fact that approximately 88% of the accidents are caused by the unsafe behaviors of the employees and 10% due to unsafe situations has led to the conclusion that the human factor should be included in the evaluation. Studies reveal that safety performance is affected by the safety culture in organizations. In this research, it is aimed to determine the occupational safety culture levels of the managers and to reveal the effect of the safety culture on the safety performance of the managers. The universe of the cross-sectional and descriptive study consists of administrative administrative staff and administrative academic staff working at Gümüşhane University. In the research, demographic information form and occupational health and safety culture scale were used as data collection tools. SPSS 22.0 statistical program was used for the statistical evaluation of the data obtained from the research. Frequency (frequency) and percentage analyzes were used to determine descriptive statistics. As a result of the study, it has been determined that managers have occupational safety awareness and that the dimensions of safety culture have a significant effect on safety performance.
