Relationship between administrators' leadership styles and skeptical thinking and narcissistic personality

The aim of this studyis to reveal the relationship between the principal and leadership sstyles who work in schools and institutions affiliatedto the Minitry of national education Kastamonu and Çankırı provinces andtheir skeptical thinking and narcissistic personality tendencies. The data were analyzed with SPSS package program. During the study a relational screening model which is a general screening model was adapted. A total of 211 school institution that consist of 93 women and 128 manparticipated in the research. The data of the research whas collected by a survey that consisted of 4 sections. In the first part, there are demographic informations to reveal the gender, professional seniority, seniority of the school administrators, the institution where they work, the number of thepersonnel in the institution they work and their place of duty. In the second part of the survey, leadership style scale with 30 questions was used. In the thirt part of the survey,Paranoid Thought Scale with 16 questions was used. In thr last part of the questionnaire, Narcissistic Personality İnventory (NKE) oh 16 questions was used. The scale of leadership style consist of three sub-dimensions: autocratic, democratic and free. Paranoid Thought Scale consists of one dimension. Narcissistic Personality Inventory consist of six dimensions: superiority, exploitation, aufhority, self- sufficiency, claiming and exhibitionism. In order to implent the questionnaires, permission was obtained from the Ministry of National Education and all the administrators of the schools and institutions in Kastamonu and Çankırı were tried to be reached. Questionnaires werw completed. According to the results of the study, it is found that the managers whose professional seniority is between 11-15 years have more skeptical thoughts than the managers whose professional seniority is 21 years or more. It was found that the managers with 15 and below personal had more ophions than the ones with 31-45. It was found that female managers had more exploitation than male managers and had more charasteristics of managers who were in the second five year of their profession. It was found that managers with high levels of skeptical thinking adapted democratic leadership style and it was concluded that the superior sub-dimension of narcissism predicted the autoctratic leadership style in which they had more skeptical superiority and the claiming sub-dimension of narcissism predicted the democratic leadership style.
