The effect of managers' machiavelist tendency on employeesattitudes towards work

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of managers' Machiavellian tendency on employees. In this context, Machiavellian tendencies of managers on employees' job satisfaction, life satisfaction, satisfaction with the manager, and satisfaction with the organization were investigated. In this study, a total of 310 employees working in a private production company in Sakarya were participated in the study. Participants evaluated the Machiavellian personality tendencies of their managers, their job satisfaction, life satisfaction, satisfaction with the manager, and satisfaction with the organization. According to the research findings it was found that the Machiavellian tendencies of managers affected employees' job satisfaction, life satisfaction, satisfaction with the manager, and satisfaction with the organization negatively. Also according to the gender and marital status of the employees, the perception of Machiavellianism was not differentiated. In contrast, depending on the educational levels of the employees, the perception of Machiavellianism was found to be different. The findings are discussed in detail in the discussion section.
