Abstract (EN)

The profiles and roles of managers has been subject to divergent studies both in indigenous and international literature together with numerous cases about businesses. However, studies concerning the managers of thriving firms in Turkey are not adequate. This study aims to evaluate the roles and profiles of the managers of the 120 firms in Bursa, Turkey which are elected by Economist magazine among the 500 Anatolian leading firms in 2012, by using Mintzberg classification as base in the sense of various parameters such as education, age, gender. In the scope of the research, surveys that are prepared by appliying a 7 dimension Likert scale were used as data collection tool and conveyed through electronic mail, fax and by hand to the managers. According to the findings that are acquired by the analyses performed by SPSS programme, managers prominently play interpersonal (leader) and decisional (entrepreneur) roles as they also put effort on other roles.
