Abstract (EN)
Countries' governing structure shows its organizational form in the direction of accomplishment of their economic and social goals. The structure of government, which has an important role on determination and implementation of public policies, shaped as monarchy, aristocracy, republic, tyranny, oligarchy and democracy. The establishment, running and coordination of state departments are evaluated within the framework of governmental systems. In this context presidential, semi-presidential and parliamentary government systems come to the forefront. In this study, the relationship between governmental systems and economic growth was investigated in the light of governing structure. Firstly, the relationship between democracy, economic freedom and economic growth was explored in the countries that have very high, high, medium and low human development rates. Moreover, the relationship between the governmental systems and economic growth of the states, settled in same group, was investigated. The results of the study shows that the progress on economic growth levels of countries increase the levels of democracy in terms of political rights and individual freedom. However, there is a tendency to stand away from democratic values in the countries which have low economic growth levels. When it comes to governmental systems, there is an increase on tendency to presidential and semi-presidential systems if there is a decrease on economic growth in countries which have parliamentary form of government. Furthermore, the countries which have parliamentary form of government are more likely to have higher democracy levels compared to the countries which have presidential and semi-presidential form of government.
