Health promotion behavior of healthcare professionals working in Yozgat City Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic period

In this study, it was aimed to determine the health promotion behaviors of healthcare professionals during the COVID-19 pandemic period. The sample of the cross-sectional study consisted of 305 healthcare professionals working in Yozgat City Hospital. Data were collected with the Introductory Information Form and Healthy Lifestyle Behaviors-II (HLBS-2). Necessary legal permissions and ethics committee approval were obtained to conduct the study. In addition to descriptive statistics, t test, ANOVA analysis of variance, Mann Whitney U test, Kruskal Wallis H test and Tukey test were used in the analysis of the data. Of the healthcare professionals, 75.7% were women, 60.3% were between the ages of 20-30, 51.5% were single, and 58% were university graduates. It was observed that 60.3% of the health workers were nurses, 67.5% had 0-10 years of work, 91.1% worked in the hospital during the pandemic, and 16.7% had a chronic disease. It was determined that healthcare workers got an average of 124.09±21.45 points in HLBS-II. It was determined that health workers got the highest score from the spiritual development subgroup (25.19±4.82) and the lowest score from the physical activity (15.61±4.75) subgroup. A statistically significant difference was found in the mean HLBS-II score of health workers according to gender, age, marital status, Body Mass Index, working style, health perception, and smoking status (p<0.05). Accordingly, it was determined that the healthy lifestyle behaviors of the health workers were at a moderate level and there was a weak positive correlation between the scale mean scores (p<0.05).
