The explanati̇on of Mehmed Sai̇d Fenni̇'s di̇van gazelles

In this study, in the second half of the nineteenth cc, the gazelles in Divan of Mehmed Said Fenni who was from and living in Yozgat are worked through. In his gazelles, it is tried to be shown what the poet means and what kind of perspectives he has, and if available, it is referred to the proverbs, idioms, verses and hadiths. This paper consists of two chapters along with introduction part. In the introduction part, it is mentioned that both poet Fenni's life and the era's literature understanding is dwelled on. In the next chapter, we go on with the explanations of the gazelles in every aspect. Purpose of this study is to reveal the ingenuity of using words and propositions of a Divan poet who is sinking into oblivion. Hereby it is aimed that both Divan literature and decedent poet reach more people. In this paper consisting of two sections, especially in the second one, the couplets' part adapted from Ottoman Turkish to Latin characters is presented and the couplets are translated to modern Turkish and finally the couplets' explanation is made.
