Abstract (EN)

Railway transportation became a part of public transportation with Steam Locomotives after the Industrial Revolution, Due to developing technology, use of fossil fuels was reduced, Firstly it was replaced by diesel locomotives. Secondly replaced by Electric Sets with the construction of Catenary (Electric) lines and Signal roads High Speed Train lines were first put into service on the Ankara – Eskişehir line section. HST is becoming increasingly popular in our country due to their usage and different line routes and because of transfer opportunities, speed and ergonomic train sets (wagons), After the first stage of HST, the second route is Ankara- Istanbul line has been started to be built in our country.The constructions of the route, within the scope of İnönü - Köseköy (Stage II) project, after the completion of the investment and construction works in Bilecik province, the Bilecik High Speed Train Station, which is an alternative to the current intercity passenger transportation methods, has been examined. After examining the green size of railway transportation. Caused by the High Speed Train Station in Bilecik province, the Carbon Emissions occurring including the current administrative, technical and service personnel as well as passenger numbers, were calculated within the scopes of GHG (Greenhouse Gas Protocol) after studied the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), TS EN IS 14064, approaches. GHG Methodology Scope 1, Scope II and Scope III – Emissions from transportation are worked. Total Carbon Footprint for the period of January – December 2022, 740.68 tonsCO2e, per passenger rate; 3.35 person kg CO2e, and the total Carbon Footprint for the January – December period of 2023 was calculated as 768.02 tonCO2e, the rate of total emissions per passenger was; 2.89 person kg CO2e. In addition, The rates of indirect emissions from passengers within Scope III has changed from year to year as (The caltulated periot ise January - August) , 27% in 2024, 23% in 2023 and 19% in 2022.
