Abstract (EN)

Turkey and that the look higher education in the students' families in the world socio-economic structures is an important factor on academic achievement, reduce inequalities in this case the education system and is expected to provide the data for short- and long-term policy will be developed to improve quality. In this study, it was aimed to determine the socio-economic levels of the students studying in higher education and to measure the expenditures of students studying in higher education. The study covers the undergraduate and associate degree students of Şırnak University in the academic year of 2016/2017. In 2016/2017 academic year, a total of 2696 students are studying at Şırnak University. The questionnaire was developed as a data collection tool and data was collected and analyzed from a total of 597 students. In the study as socio-economic characteristics of the student; the educational status of the parents, the number of siblings, the number of siblings studying, the income of the family, the type of high school it has graduated from, the education support it received before entering the university and the wages it paid for education. As a result of the study, it can be said that the socio-economic levels of the students of Şırnak University are low, the reasons for the preference of the university are the possibility of being employed in general and the anxiety of the future, the students do not generally read the section they want.
