Abstract (EN)

Armament race in the seas and mobilization of masses by the way of using fleet funds was not peculiar to Great Britain and Germany in the early 20th century. Ottoman State and Greece also competed on the Aegean Sea. Greek National Fleet Fund was an important factor spreading this race to the common people. Greek National Fleet Fund was founded in Athens to help to build a better navy for Greece. In this study the focus is on the Fund's activities in the Ottoman State. Thus, spreading Greek nationalism via fleet sembolism among the Ottoman Rums also examined.
