Analysis of Yunus Emre Institute Yedi İklim Turkish language teaching set in terms of values education (A1-A2 example)

The aim of this research is to determine the situation of the Yunus Emre Institute's Yedi klim Turkish set in terms of the values included in the Curriculum for Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language, which was prepared by the Maarif Foundation on the basis of the European Common Framework for Languages. The population of this research, in which a survey model and document analysis were used, consists of the textbooks used for teaching Turkish to foreigners, and the sample includes the textbooks and workbooks of the Yunus Emre Institute's Yedi Iklim Turkish Set for A1 and A2 levels. The reason why the study was restricted to the Yunus Emre Institute with these books is that the institution was established to promote Turkish language and culture. For this reason, it is important to determine how much value is transferred to the textbooks prepared by an institution. Values education is included in the Curriculum for Teaching Turkish as a Foreign Language, which is the leading program in this field, prepared by the Maarif Foundation. These values consist of ten basic values and also aesthetic value included in the 2019 Turkish Lesson Curriculum prepared by the Ministry of National Education. Each course and workbook contain eight units that were chosen as study samples. All of the reading, listening, and activity texts in these units were checked to see if they included the above-mentioned values. The findings were shown in tables, with separate columns for each book, each unit, and all books, and the frequency and percentages were used to represent the distribution of values. The sentences where the values were determined and their corresponding page numbers were also given in the findings section. It was found as a result of the study that while aesthetic and justice values were the least frequent, the most frequent ones were love and charity values. It was also concluded that the books prepared for the basic level A1 and A2 levels are sufficient in terms of values education, and although values education at the beginner level is not the primary goal, values education in many texts and activities will provide great benefits to the teachers while teaching the target language.
