Abstract (EN)
The thesis study titled "Examination of Foreign Language Museums and Turkey's Model Sample" has been evaluated comparatively in order to be a pioneer for possible Turkish Language Museum studies by considering the establishment, management, organization, strategic planning, collections, exhibition and presentation methods of important language museums opened abroad. In the thesis, first of all, general concepts on language are explained. Afterwards, language, the concepts that affect language, all studies in language museums abroad and the "Turkish Language Museum" model sample were examined. In the first part of the thesis, general concepts on language are mentioned. In the second part, the history and development of the Turkish language, the lost or disappearing Turkish dialects are mentioned. The third part consists of foreign language museums; the foundation, development and exhibition processes of these museums are shed light on. The last part of the thesis is devoted to Turkish museology, Turkish language museum model sample suggestions, comparison with language museums abroad and studies that can be applied in this regard. In this section, after giving detailed information about the study of the model sample in Turkey, comparative evaluations are made with the language museums abroad, which is the main subject of the thesis. This study is one of the most comprehensive studies in this field, evaluated in terms of "language museology" arising from the synthesis of museology with language in Turkey. Within the scope of the thesis, 6 language museums that have continuity abroad were examined. These are the National American Language Museum, the Canadian Language Museum, the Portuguese Language Museum, the Netherlands Leiden Language Museum, the African Language Museum and the Hungarian Language Museum. While examining the examples, it has been tried to create a database about the cooperation between language museums abroad and the continuity of these cooperations in order to increase their number all over the world. Language is the most meaningful element that brings communities together. Language is both a tool that conveys feelings and thoughts to people, and one of the most valuable values that transform societies into a unity of feelings and thoughts. For this reason, it is necessary to protect the language and take measures to protect it. In this respect, language museums are intertwined with many languages in the world and intersect these languages with museums; they are places that can bring together visitors of all ages, while creating a social education area for the visitor. It is very important to apply more academic studies in order to increase the number of museums in this area with their cultural backgrounds and multi-faceted functions, to be established and sustainable in Turkey.
