Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on the detection and monitoring of nests, which is an important factor in the conservation of sea turtles. The effects of nest site selection methods on the hatching success of the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) nests were investigated. The research evaluated the hatching success of 100 loggerhead sea turtle nests made on Belek Nesting Beach in 2020. In the study, half of the nests were manually excavated until the presence of eggs was confirmed and then covered back, while no intervention was made in the other half. The findings indicate that the nest excavation method used did not have a significant effect on the hatching success. This study provides an important contribution to the evaluation of nest detection and monitoring methods for the conservation and management of sea turtles.
