Retrospective evaluation of the effect of surface finishing on the color of restorations with different contents applied in the anterior region in-vivo

Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to evaluate the color stability of aesthetic restorations with different surface finishing processes under in-vivo conditions. In this study; IPS E-max Press (EP), Lava Ultimate (LU), Vita Enamic (EN), Vita Suprinity (SP), Cerasmart (CE), BruxZir (BZ), Vita Mark II (VM) veneer restorations were evaluated. Total of 280 aesthetic veneer crowns (n=20) were grouped according to different surface finishes (manual polishing, glaze). L*, a* and b* values of restorations were measured with a colorimeter (ShadeEye, Shofu, Japan) device after cementation initial (L0*, a0*, b0*), 1st month (L1*, a1*, b1*) and 6th months (L2*, a2*, b2*). The amount of color change of the restorations; initial-1st month (∆E00*)1, initial-6th month (∆E00*)2, 1st month-6th month (∆E00*)3 was calculated. Bonferroni correction was applied with Friedman and Wilcoxon Test for L*, a*, b* values (p<0.017). Kruskal Wallis Test and Mann Whitney U test with Bonferroni correction were used for pairwise comparisons of data between groups (p<0.0005). Considering the mean values, it was found as L2*0.0005). Glass ceramics can be recommended instead of nanoceramic hybrid materials for cases in anterior region where high aesthetic is needed. Glazing and polishing processes can be used as alternatives to each other for aesthetic veneer restorations.
