ASSESMENT OF SUPERF C AL RAD AL NERVE SENSORYCONDUCT ON US NG D FFERENT TECHN QUESDR. DURUKAN TÜRESUMMARYIntroduction: Several methods have been described for superficial radial nevre(SRN) sensory coduction. This study aimed to standartize the methods by determiningthe landmarks of conduction and generate the normative data.Material and Method: Conduction velocity of SRN studied on 10 healthy menand 23 women with using four different methods. Three of them were anthidromic. APswere recorded as; first, from the point where nerve can be palpated over the EPL tendonwith the reference near the second metacarpal bone, the second placed at the same pointbut the reference was placed distal on the thumb. The third from the first and the secondmetacarpal bones. At the fourth method, AP?s were recorded over the stimulating pointof the first three methods. The stimulation point was chosen as the thumb. Results: Peak to peak amplitudes were best recorded in the first two methods. Inmean onset CVies, there were significant differences between the fourth method and thefirst and the third methods. In mean peak CVies, the third and the first two methods andthe fourth and the second methods were significantly different. The lower limits ofCVies were as 53m/sc and 42 m/sc for onset and peak velocities. The lower limits ofamplitudes were 30 µV for the first 2 methods, and 14 µV for the fourth one. Conclusion: The first two methods seemed to be more practical and reliable. where thethird method was least reliable one in antidromics.
