Investigation of the effect of swimming exercise on joint motion angles

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of swimming exercise on joint motion angles. Single-group pretest-posttest design was used as the research model of the study. For our research, 20 female students between the ages of 7 and 9, who had not received any swimming training before and who had received informed voluntary parent consent form (BGOF) from their parents, who were enrolled in Çorum Municipality Buhara Cultural Center courses, were selected and included in the study. Height, weight and body mass indexes of the study participants were measured. Data were created by transferring joint motion angles to the imageJ program using the photo imaging method. All statistical analyzes of the data obtained by taking the group's pre- and post-exercise measurements were analyzed using the IBM SPSS 22.0 statistical package program. When the findings obtained were examined, the upper extremity data SEF, SEE, SLEF, SLEE, LF, SF, SE, SOF, SOE, SLOF, SLOE, SOADD, SOABA, SLOADD and SLOABA were significantly different between the pre- and post-exercise values of the group (p<0, 05) a significant difference was detected. When the lower extremity pre-test and post-test data were examined, a significant difference was seen due to SAPF, SLAPF, SLADF, SKF, SKE, SLKF, SLKE, SKADD, SKABAD, SLKADD, SLK ABD (p<0.05). No significant difference was found in the SADF data outside these parameters, as it was (p>0.05). Considering all these statistical results, it has been seen that swimming exercises have a significant positive effect on joint movement angles. Based on the results of these data, we think that swimming exercises should be included more in the training program for individuals with joint movement restrictions or in branches where the angle of joint movement is important in the application of biomechanical techniques. We think that conducting the study in different age groups and with a larger sample population will contribute to the literature in order to reveal these effects more comprehensively.
