Turkish Language Association defines the craft as "the work base upon experience, ability and skills to meet the human requirements related material". Disciplines of industry, design and marketing are become prominent during the industrial development process to meet the human requirements. Place of the craft in new consumption age, relationship between craft and industrial design, place of Turkey's cultural values related to craft and sustainability of these values are the subject of this research. Cultural sustainability must be defined in order to analyze the relationship between craft and industrial design in Turkey within the context of cultural sustainability. Cultural sustainability expresses the long term sustainability of the human needs like values provided to a society or an individual by the social surroundings, belief system, esthetics, justice, health, education, security, etc. The craft in Turkey carries the traces of the local culture where it was born and social needs of people. Thus, it has an important role on keeping cultural values alive. The data including the distribution of the craft places in Turkey were examined and classified by considering the "Traditional Handicraft Map of Turkey" prepared by Ministry of Culture and Tourism within the scope of this research. In this context, study is structured on the basis of three most popular and three least popular craft braches. This study is structured as both qualitative and quantitative research of a case study. Semi-structured interviews were done with the artisans within this scope. Moreover, surveys are applied to the artisans, delegates from ministry, people works in related trade associations, academicians and designers, in order to analyze the current state in terms of cultural sustainability of relationship between craft and industrial design.
