Wood protection activities of concentrated rich mineral waters against to wood hazardous insect and fungus: Example of Gümüşhane province

Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was investigated antifungal and insecticide properties some of the mineral waters from the ground which contain rich mineral salt in Gümüşhane province. The waters containing rich mineral salts were obtained from Tekke, Yeşildere and Zigana villages in Gümüşhane province. The waters were prepared 5 difference concentrations (10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%) after steaming by boiling. Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) wood samples impregnated with this waters by using full cell treatment method. To determine antifungal activities are used two species of fungi, one of them is the white rot fungi (Coriolus versicolor) and the other brown rot fungi (Gloeophyllum trabeum) for its antifungal activities. Lyctus brunnes larvaes is used for insectisit activitiy. The chemical analysis of waters was shown that the waters are containing Ca, Na, K, Mg, Mn, and Co salts. There are also no elements such as boron and arsenic, which may be toxic to wood-rotting fungi. The results shown the unconcenrated rich mineral waters have high antifungal effects than the waters prepared differences other 4 concentrations after steaming by boiling. Because of lime and other mineral contents were declined during boiling. This event was decreased antifungal activity of mineral waters. The other hand it is another reason that this waters not included toxic minerals such us copper and boron against fungus. After opening the larvae bore on the Fraxinus excelsior L. sap wood samples, Lyctus brunnes larvea was placed into impregnated samples. The feeding and growth of larvae in the samples were examined. It was observed that the larvaes can not feed and could not create galleries in wood impregnated rich mineral water. Very low proportions of larvae moves further continue the struggle for life in the wood samples including lower mineral content.
