Recovery of combustible material from coal wastes of enrichment plant and evaluation of wastes as agricultural soil

In this study, approximately 10 tons of on-site samples were taken with the help of a wheel loader from the fields where the Zonguldak hard coal washing plant tailings are disposed. This tailings sample was reduced to about 2 tons by coning and quartering. Afterwards, it was bagged and transported to the laboratory. Coal preparation plant wastes were divided into sample size groups for experimental analysis. Each size group was subjected to chemical analysis. According to the results of the sieve analysis, when the wastes of the coal preparation plant were sieved through a 10 mm sieve, a product with an upper heating value of 902-1009 cal/kg is obtained. Float-sink tests were carried out for gravity separation. Coal preparation plant wastes were sieved through a 1mm sieve and subjected to flotation. According to the flotation results; i. the lowest ash content (40,1%) was obtained by flotation using 1000 g/ton kerosene as collector and MIBC as frother, ii. the highest amount of product (88,6%) was obtained by flotation using 1500 g/ton kerosene as collector and 2-ethylhexanol as frother, iii. the highest combustion efficiency (86,2%) was obtained by flotation using 1500 g/ton kerosene as collector and Dowfroth250 as frother and iv. the best collector for the tailings recovery was KEROSENE and the frother was Dowfroth250. In the experiment carried out in the heavy medium cyclone, approximately 20 kg of coal preparation plant tailings from 1-4 mm size group was used. The feed ash is 80,61%. Using heavy media magnetite powder, the media density was adjusted to 1.70 g/cm3. After separation, clean coal with ash content of 44,48% was obtained 11,18% by weight. In order to get an idea about the usability of coal preparation plant final tailings in agriculture as soil conditioner, it was aimed to determine which proportions of this tailings can be used via plant growth test. This study was carried out using uninoculated iza wheat and iza wheat that was inoculated with plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR). Coal preparation plant tailings that was sieved through 2 mm sieve was mixed with 0%, 5%, 10%, 20% and 40% of field soil. The use of coal preparation plant tailings in agricultural areas has been found to be positive and beneficial. However, the application of a certain dose of this tailings should be recommended. As a result of our study, we recommend 5% and 10% doses as the ideal dose. In addition, it has been determined that plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) will have a more positive and significant effect on the yield and nutrient content of the plants to be grown in the areas where the coal preparation plant tailings/wastes have been applied.
