Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the post-migration factors that affect the smoking addıctıon or risky alcohol consumption among forced immigrants. In this context, daily life stress sources, general anxiety, general health perception, perception of social support, intergroup contact and acculturation orientation have been studied to predict smoking or alcohol addiction and immigrants'life satisfaction. The sample of the study consists of 228 Syrian individuals living in different neighborhoods of Adana. For the purposes of the study, participants were informed about the Consent Form, Demographic Information Form, Daily Stressors Scale (Afghan Daily Stressors Scale) Generalized Anxiety Disorder Assessment, Social Support Scale, World Health Survey, Scales for Adaptation, Cultural Distance, and Acculturation Orientation, Intergroup Contact Quantity Scale, Valenced Positive Contact, Valanced Negative Contact, Life Satisfaction Scale, Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence, and The Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Tests were applied. As a result of the Hierarchical Regression analysis, it was found that the general anxiety level predicted smoking addiction. According to the Hierarchical Regression analysis on risky alcohol consumption, psychological cohesion and socio-cultural cohesion, which are sub-dimensions of acculturation, were found to predict risky alcohol consumption. In the study, it was also found that the sources of daily life stress, the level of socio-cultural adaptation from the sub-dimensions of acculturation and positive contact with the local people predict the life satisfaction of individuals. The findings are discussed within the framework of the literature. It is thought that this study, which examines the addiction behaviors of individuals experiencing forced migration together with psychological and social factors beyond the psychology of the individual, will contribute to the literature. Key Words: Cultural Cohesion, Forced Migration, Risky Alcohol Consumption, Smoking Addiction, Well-Being
