A proposal of an optimal Turkish military space model by cross-country comparison of the American, Russian, and Chinese military space models
Space has been a vital domain for the national security of states since the beginning of the first space activities. The militarization process of space, which started during the Cold War, continues increasingly and in the international system, which is a self-help system, states operate space-based assets to ensure their national security. As a result of the increase in competition in the global system, the inadequacy of international space law in regulating the behavior of states, and the increase in military space activities with increasing actors, states increase their military space capabilities and take deterrent measures in order to maintain their survival. However, the increasing number of space powers have begun to form space forces within their armed forces. In this study, the reasons behind the states' establishment of space forces will be analyzed within the framework of defensive structural realism, and the optimum military space model proposal for Türkiye will be presented by comparing the US, Russian and Chinese military space models.
The implications of social media usage on voting behaviorsand decisions: A study on first-time voters in Turkey
In the 21st century, social media has become a crucial part of our everyday lives. All sectors and fields have become dependent on it, including entertainment, business, education, and politics. Social media has been a source of information and interaction, and political parties make use of social media to deliver their ideas or future projects to win the hearts and minds of the voters during electoral campaigns. Therefore, digital natives started discovering and understanding politics through their screens. This thesis research focuses on how first-time voters in Turkey interact and behave on social media regarding voting. Its aim is to study the implications of social media usage on first-time voters' political knowledge, political participation, and voting behavior. A comprehensive survey was developed as a means to implement the quantitative research approach. The needed data was gathered via the survey and analyzed through SPSS in order to address the research questions and evaluate the hypotheses. The results generally indicate that social media usage among first-time voters in Turkey has a significant positive relationship with their political knowledge and participation, and eventually their voting behavior.
Does interaction between Turkish and Syrians living in Türkiye have an effect on prejudice in intergroup relations
The purpose of this thesis is to analyze "Does interaction between Turkish and Syrian university students living in Türkiye have an effect on prejudice in intergroup relations?" There have been many studies about immigration conducted by sociologists, psychologists, historians, and politicians. Mostly aimed to figure out how host community accepts the immigrants. Therefore, this study looks at "Does the quality and quantity of interaction eliminating prejudice between Turkish and Syrian university students living in Türkiye?". A survey was also conducted in this study. The sample of this study consists of 370 participants who are between 18 and 30 years of age who are Turkish university students living in Istanbul.
Understanding the impact of political art on the Arab Spring: A survey research to determine the perspective of young people
This thesis is an investigation into the role of political art during the Arab Spring and how it shaped the conscience of young people to overthrow brutal regimes. This research is an evaluation of how political art was used as an effective tool and how many forms of pollical art spread the message of standing against the tyranny in the four countries, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, and Syria. The literature has revealed different political visual art in the streets of these countries which demonstrated the defiance of the population against the tyrants. However, almost a decade it is interesting to understand how that visual art became a significant tool in the hands of youth. In this research-rich, the young population from the four countries were identified through personal links and via departmental search. A survey questionnaire was prepared to get the responses of all the participants. The survey link was sent to the potential participants, and they were asked to complete the survey. Moreover, all the participants were provided with details of the survey and how their data is going to be used. 56 responses were obtained and these revealed interesting findings. The majority of respondents believed that political art is a tool for revolution and popular uprisings. Furthermore, respondents also revealed that they have engaged in different forms of political visual art such as graffiti, and paintings. The respondents also stated to utilize social media as a medium to propagate their visual art and spread their message of rising against brutal regimes. In this way, the respondents favored the use of visual art during popular uprisings. Keywords: Political Art, Graffiti, Arab Spring, Social Media, Street Art
