Abstract (EN)
1,8-cineole and 1,4-cineole are oxygenated monoterpenes found in nature. 1,8-cineole is a component of various pharmaceutic and cosmetic preparations which is reported to have various activities like antibacterial, antifungal, antimutagenic, choleretic, mast cell degranulating, inflammatory and antiinflammatory actions. There is scarce information on 1,4-cineole. Three different doses (10"6, 10"5 ve 10"4 M) of 1,8- and 1,4-cineole were investigated on isolated rat fundus and ileum, and only single dose (10"4 M) of the cineoles were investigated on isolated rat vas deferens in the present study. Both compounds were ineffective on fundus ileum and phenylephrine induced contractions of vas deferens but KC1 induced contractions were inhibited by test compounds indicating lack of any direct interaction between 1,8- and 1,4-cineole and muscarinic and adrenergic receptors. Lack of any effect of 1,8- and 1,4-cineole on isolated rat fundus and ileum but the presence of inhibitory effect on isolated rat vas deferens were reported for the first time in this study. Due to the augmentation of the inhibitory actions of test compounds in the presence of L-NoARG, imidazole and methylene blue, it is suggested that ion channels and alterations of intracellular calcium ions play important role on the inhibitory actions of 1,8- and 1,4-cineole.
