Abstract (EN)

Sailing yacht skippers want to have best sailing performance and best stability with their yachts. Therefore the yachts' forms, stability and sails dimensions are very important. Cruise and racing sailing yachts have average sail performance and stability. In this study, the most important design parameters prismatic coefficient and hull beam are tried to be figured out for a sailing yacht that has 10 m water length. When the hull plan is designed, the performance criteria needs to be considered as one of the most important output for a designer. Therefore, 25 boats which exist in real life with 10 m water length that are known with their general dimensions were used to achieve the interval of the dimensionless ratios. These ratios of the sailing yachts were modeled on computer. 5 different beam length ratio has used and for each beam length ratio 5 yacht has modeled. The resistances, stabilities and sailing performances were compared for 25 different modeled sailing yachts to interpret the impact of prismatic coefficient and boat beam on sailing yachts. In order to find best prismatic coefficient and hull beam, interpolation method is used and optimal values are forecasted. In addition to this, a chosen model sailing yacht's bow shape has been simulated with various bow types to find best bow type with the help of the residuary resistance calculation. From this study the designer can decide his boat's prismatic coefficient and the hull beam according to each sailing route and each wind speed.
