Examination of procrastination levels of 11-14 year old students in terms of socio-demographic characteristics

The aim of this study was to examine the procrastination levels of students in the 11-14 age group in terms of social-demographic characteristics. The research was carried out in secondary school with 493 students in 2018-2019 in Çukurova district of Adana. The study examined the relationship between students 'procrastination behaviors and the number of siblings, study room, age, gender, and parents' level of Education. In the research, the academic deferral scale and personal data form developed by Cakir (2003) were used as data collection tools. The academic deferral scale consists of 7 positive 12 negative 19 items, including the responsibilities of the students (project preparation, preparation for exams, study). It is a scale rated as Likert type. The Personal Information Form developed by the researcher consists of 7 items. With this form, students ' sosya-demographic information is obtained. In this study, t-test, one-way variance analysis, post-Hoc test Tukey Pearson, simple correct regression analysis were used in the analysis of the collected data. According to the results of the research, postponement behavior of students in the 11-14 age group varies according to age level. A positive association was found between academic deferral behavior and age. There was no significant association between parents ' level of Education, Gender, study room, number of siblings and academic deferral behaviors.
