Between 12-15 years old primary school students?s behavior problems by the relations between family function and mather-fathers personality dimensions

Abstract (EN)

It is not possible that, to evaluate of adolecent behavior problems in one approach. Studies show that, behavior problems are reflections of social enverioment and confident and coherent enviriomental conditions are needed for healty behavior paterns improvement. But risk factors are effected normal improvement of adolecent negatively. One of the main factor is family and relationship between family members. The fact that, family structure, behavior patterns and perception of the family effect the personality and his/her problems.Studies show that, reported problems during adolecent period are continued about 40% of adolecents during young adulthood period. This stuation emphasize that, psychological symtomps of adolecent shold be evaluated early period. In adolecent period, physical, psycholical and social changes are occured all together. So that,adaptation difficulties are normal in this period. Sometimes these changes are caused psychiatric defects.Aim of this study is to examine between 12-15 years old primary school adolecent?s behavior problems by defining the relations between these problem?s family function and parent?s personality dimensions. In study embrace, relations between behavior problems and social-demografic variables and family functions are evaluated from the point of adolecent and parent?s perception. Datas of personality dimensions are examined only point of parent?s perceptions.Sampling of this study be formed in İzmir town center primary school?s 6.7.8. classes 389 students who are between 12-15 years old and their parents. In the present study measurment enstrument 1), Child Behavior Check List/CBCL/4-18 2), Youth Self Reported /YSR /11-18, 3) Eysenk Personality Questionnaire, 4) Family Assesment Device FAD are used. Analysis datas t-test, Analysis Variance, Schefee Test and Pearson?s r Analysis technics are done.In accordence with results of study, differences were found on behavior problems of adolecents in view of gender. Thus, according to adolecents girls live more frequently anxious-depressed and boys live more frequently social problems, delinquent behavior, externalizing behavioral problems. Acorrding to parent?s perception, girls live more-frequently withdrawn, anxious-depressed and internalising problems.Perceptions of parents towards adolecents? behavior problems show no differences in point of adelocents?age.But, according to adolecents? perceptions show differences in point of age. According to this; adolecents 13 years old more frequently show withdrawn, 14 years old more frequently show attention problems and aggressive behavior. 15 years old more frequently show anxious- depressed.In accordence with adolecents, adolecents who attends 8. class more frequently show anxious-depressed and aggressive behavior problems ,while, 7. class students live social problems, attention problems, sexual problems, externalising behavioral problems. According to mothers adolecents who attends 7. class show more frequently somatic complaints, anxious-depressed, attention problems, delinquint behavior, aggressive behavior, sexual problem and externalizing problems. However, according to perception of fathers, there is no difference in adolecents behavior problems on class level.Adelocents explained that, adolecents whose mothers? educational level is primary school, live more frequently withdrawn, anxious-depressed, internalising problems than whose mothers educational level is secondary school, college or university. Primary school graduated mothers defined that their children have somatic complaints, social problems, thougth problems and internalising problems.According to adolecents, whose father graduated from Secondary School defined that their children have withdrawn, anxious depressed, internalising behavior and total problems. Primary school graduated fathers defined that their children have somatic problems, social problems, argressive behavior, internalising behavior, externalising behavior.Adolecents whose mother in range of 30-34 years old show more frequently withdrawn than whose mother in range of 35-44. Adolecents whose mother in range of 35-44 defined that they live anxious depressed, ve thought problems. Mothers who are older than 45 years old defined that their children have somatic complaints and externalising problems and mother in range 30-34 defined more anxious depressed, social problems, thought problems, internalising problems and total problems.Adolecent whose father in range older than 45 years old defined that they have anxious- depressed and externalising problems and whose fathers in range of 30-34 defined that they live withdrawn. The father who are older than 45 years old defined that their children live somatik complaints, internalizing problems and total behavior problems.According to adolecents, there is no big differences between working mothers and housewife mothers in point of perceiving adolescent behavioral problems. But, according to housewife mothers adolecents show more frequently withdrawn, somatic complaints, attention problems, internalising problems, and externalising problems.According to adolecents, whose fathers are workers defined that they live withdrawn, somatic complaint, attention problems and internalising problems. And whose fathers are retired taht they defined anxious-depressed, aggressive behavior, externalising problems and total behavior problems. According to worker fathers, adolecents show more frequently somatic complaints, social problems, thought problems, attention problems, aggressive behavior, internalising behavior, externalising behavior and total behavior problems.According to adolecents whose family salary 0-400 ytl defined that they live anxious-depressed, social problems, thought problems, internalising problems and total behavior problems. However, according to parents? perceptions there is no difference on adolecents behavior problems related with salary level.In the present study, between perceptions of adolecents and parents are related with each other in positive way. Means that, if parents? percepctions about behavioral problems increseas also adolecents? perceptions about behavioral problems increases. Also perceptions of mothers? and fathers? are related with each other in positive way.There is positive relation between adolecents? behavioral problems and solving problems from family functions; but on other functions; communication, roles, emotional affectice responsiveness, affective involvement, behavior control, general functions are negative relation.The last finding is, there is positive relation between parents? behavioral problems perceptions, personality dimensions and pyschotic and neurotic dimension. When pyschotic and neurotic dimnension increases, behavioral problems increases but in lying dimension it is decreases.
