Abstract (EN)
This study is a descriptive study to examine the social skill levels of 12-15 age group athletes. The population of the study consisted of 12-15 age group children (82 girls, 89 boys) who were randomly selected among the students studying at public schools affiliated to the Directorate of National Education in Gaziantep and doing sports on a voluntary basis. "Matson Children's Social Skills Assessment Scale", which was adapted into Turkish by Bacanlı and Erdoğan (2003), was used to obtain the research data. The data collected for the variables to be answered within the framework of the purpose of the research were transferred to the computer environment and the SPSS 22.0 package program was used for statistical analysis. IndependentSample t test, OneWay ANOVA analysis was applied in the comparison of multiple groups and the p value was considered statistically significant at the 0.05 level. As a result, while there was no difference between the children's social skill scores in terms of the variable of doing sports, the negative and positive social behavior scores of the girls who do not do sports are higher than the boys, the positive social behaviors of the team athletes who do sports are higher than the individual athletes, the 12-year-old children have higher negative and positive social behavior scores than the 14-year-olds. social behavior scores, the 5th grade children who do sports have higher negative behaviors than the 8th grade children, while the negative social behaviors of the children who do sports with a high family income level are higher, the positive social behaviors of the children with a low and middle family income level are higher and their parents While the positive social behaviors of those with higher education were found to be high, it was concluded that as the sports year increased, negative social behaviors decreased and positive social behaviors increased.
