Abstract (EN)

Politic restrictions in energy assurance and increase in petroleum prices havedirected all countries to return to national energy sources. Within the frameworkof the EU environmental conditions and the Kyoto Protocol, Turkey has aimedat, for the national development, to benefit from low quality lignites exhaustivelyto be the major fosilse fuel resource. In this study, air fired combustion processwhich forms the most critical process in transformation of lignite to electric hasbeen analyzed in a proper combustion and emission control point of view. In thisanalysis, oxygen fired ultra supercritic boiler technology which constitutes thelast stage of clean coal technology has been taken into consideration. The mostacceptable energy balance model of a thermal power plant boiler at 150 MWeestablished power has been designed and thermal design analysis of this modelhave been done. The necessary combustion and operation data for design havebeen returned to computable condition with the assistance of this model. Designand operation data of the said boiler have been computed and compared withreal operation values. It is observed that the calculation results and the operationdata were acceptable within limits.
