Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this research is to study when and how much revenue has accrued in goods sales, service offerings, and interests, copyrights and dividends within the scope of International Accounting Standards 18 and its official translation Turkish Accounting Standards 18 Revenue Standard, to demonstrate its differences with our tax legislation and Uniform Chart of Accounts, to contribute in the removal of doubts based on qualifying transactions and to raise its understanding by original examples. Accounting of revenue on the basis of periodicity and fair value concept within the scope of Turkish Financial Reporting Standards demonstrates differences with our tax legislation and Uniform Chart of Accounts. Reduction of such differences will assure great ease for users. Because the Revenue Standard has not been revised for long years, it does not sufficiently reflect current discussions in relation to the accounting of revenue. Therefore, it has come to a position where it is unable to address the new requirements of businesses or offer sufficient guidance. International Accounting Standards Board has reintroduced the Revenue Standard in its agenda along with the latest developments and in parallel with the new approaches relating to the accounting of revenue.
