Abstract (EN)

General purpose of the research is to analyze human figure applications found on 18 th Century Kütahya tiles and ceramics. Survey/ scanning model was used on research. Data were obtained with observation forms composed of 54 human figured tile and ceramic artifacts chosen as samples. The different sizes and embossing forms of the plates on 18 th Century Kütahya tiles and ceramics where human figures are applied make us think that these artifacts are a result of different craftsmen and workshops. Absence of mouths and noses on some of the human figures and lack of clean and attentive craftsmanship make us think that a serial production activity was conducted to meet the heavy demand. Plentitude of flower and herbal decorations on analyzed artifacts are remarkable. The reason for this is that the 18 th Century is Tulip Era The artifacts of 18 th Century Kütahya tile and ceramics where human figures are applied ( plates, flagon, sugar pot, bottle, flask, wallboard) are analyzed in terms of color, subject, composition, material, technique and size, as color selection; red ocher, turquoise, yellow, green, manganese purple, cobalt blue colors were used quite excessively and the boundaries were highlighted with black contour. As the subject, it?s observed that male and female figures are portrayed separately and jointly. On composition themes figures appear at the center and both sides are decorated with herbal patterns, besides this, some of the figures have flowers in their hand. When the pieces are analysed in terms of materials used, white paste usage is observed, and the underglaze technique is also used. İt?s determined that artifacts where human figures are applied on 18th Century Kütahya tiles and ceramics has clothing styles that belongs to the specific geographical area and the traditional dressing styles, patterns and fashion have documental qualification. The compositions reflect a tolerant and peaceful environment where we found the clues of the era? s human relations, religious, cultural and social environment that convey the daily life and epochal factors with simplicity.
