Abstract (EN)

?Yeniçeri Ocağı? was removed and then ?Asakir-i Mansure-i Muhammediye Army? was set up. A large financial resource was needed to establish a new army, to make the staff professional and also to increase the number of soldiers. So, the ?Case of Damascus? was came out as a reaction to ?Ihtisap Tax? which was taken to supply the needs of the ?Asakir-i Mansure-i Muhammediye Army? and then this case enlarged as a rebellion against Ottoman Empire in the year of 1831.In this study, the reforms on administrative structure of Sultan 2nd Mahmud and how were the conditions in Damascus in the fields of administrative, economic, social and military structures were indicated in 1831. Reasons of the ?Case of Damascus?, process and the results are introduced. The visible reason of the ?Case of Damascus? was ?Ihtisap Tax?. But the real reason was rebel movement, which was arranged by interior and foreign powers. Governor of Sidon Abdullah Pasha was the main actor of the rebellion. As a result of this progress, Damascus was separated from the administration of the Ottoman Empire.
