Abstract (EN)
The modernization process of men's clothing in the Ottoman Empire began in 1797 with the Nizam-ı Cedid Army. III. The process of westernization in men's clothing started in the period of Selim II, II. Mahmud continued in the period. In 1829, with the reform of clothes for civil servants, the process of westernization in men's clothing was reflected in the administrative linkage from the military area and then naturally in the civilian population. In this study, we discussed the methodological scope of the 19th century Ottoman men's clothing. It was evaluated in two contexts before and after Mahmud's clothing reform. Thus, 19th century. Ottoman men's clothing was discussed in two separate periods. The basic methodology is composed of two separate periods on traditional and western modern men's clothing. In the first part of this study, which consists of two parts, in the global context of the 19th century. the modernization process and the aspect of this modernization reflected to the Ottoman Empire. In the second part, the characteristic forms of Ottoman men's clothing were discussed. In addition, 19 th century. men's clothing was evaluated before and after 1829. The usage area, general formal form, functionality and historical development of these clothes are analyzed in depth. Also used in the 19th century. Accessories are complementary elements of Ottoman men's clothing. With all these, 19th century. Popular culture and fashion perception in men's clothing were analyzed in depth.
