A nineteenth-century chagatai divan: A transcription and analysis of the Divan of Harezmi Kamil

The aim of this thesis is the Dîvân-ı Kâmil, by Harezmî Kâmil, one of the Chagatai poets who lived in 19th century. The main goal of this study is to give information about Harezmî Kâmil's life, works and literary personality and to present and analyse the Dîvân-ı Kâmil in terms of form and content. To achieve this goal, firstly I made the transcription of the only manuscript copy of Dîvân-ı Kâmil in Turkey. After a short introduction part, I give information about Harezmî Kâmil's life, works and literary personality and then I examine the divan in terms of form and content. Firstly I introduce the manuscript copy of the divan and then by examining the structural characteristics of the divan, I give information about verse forms and their dispersion in the divan. Afterwards, I put forward the characteristics of language and spelling of the divan and I exhibit the contextual characteristics of the divan by giving examples from poems. In the final part, I present the transcription of manuscript after I gived foreknowledge such as the methodology I used in the transcription and schemas of transcription. After the transcription of the text, I make a small dictionary including proper nouns and terms. Also, I attach the facsimile of original manuscript copy at the end of my study.
