Abstract (EN)

There have been many studies in the literature on the Nestorians, but in most of these studies, the events that took place in Hakkâri after the First World War and afterwards have been written by foreign government officials and writers, with only the Nestorians in the foregro-und. The main purpose of this doctoral study, however, is to compare and examine socio-politically the events of the time not only from the eyes of the Nestorians, but also those of the Kurds. The data in the study have been collected from the existing literature, Ottoman State archive documents and field research. The findings obtained from the obtained data have been discussed and analyzed in line with the principles of constructivism and narrative theory. In the study, it has been observed that the relations between Nestorians and Kurds li-ving in Hakkâri throughout history have been based on neighbourly relations and friendship. At the XIX. these relations deteriorated with the influence of the missionaries operating in the region, and then clashes between the two peoples started with the First World War. It has been found that religious and ethnic structures have been influential in the deterioration of these relations. As a result, the events that took place in Hakkâri during the First World War came to the foreground with their political and social aspects. In this sense, concepts such as identity, ethnicity, nationalism, idea and meaning have been blended with the theories of the study and a different perspective has been formulated on the subject.
