Abstract (EN)

The progression of The Armenian claim that was initiated by nationalist movements after the mid-19. Century, developed by external powers support, caused many great sorrows. This progression was ended by the treaties with Armenia and the USSR and by the negotiations during The Lausanne Conference. Armenians who had great disappointment in Lausanne decided to take their revenge on Turks. This notion became a fundamental concept of Armenian Identity. They need a psychological dynamic to prevent Armenians who are scattered all over the world from assimilation in other nations. This psychological factor was found in a tale of genocide that involved the Turks. The Armenian claim that the Turkish Republic faces today stems from the antagonism between 1923 and 1945. This 18-year-period that has not been studied carefully in the research was the era of the foundation of the Armenian ideas. In that period, Syria and Beirut were the regions where Armenians mostly populated. Most activities against the Turkish Republic had been organized by the Armenians who settled in those regions. The region facilitates terrorist attacks due to physical closeness. The Turkish Intelligence that has been very effective in that region thwarted many terrorist attacks planned by Armenians in that period. Therefore Armenian activities seemed stagnant in those years. Yet, this stagnation and desperation brought in a ruthless Turk antagonism. The study on Armenian activities in The Syria and Beirut region in between 1923-1945 is therefore very crucial in order to see how this matter carries on to date and to better understand its nature. Key Words 1- Armenian 2- Terror 3- Syria 4- Beirut 5- Antagonism
